With over 29 years of experience in hair restoration surgery with a background as a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Epstein has helped thousands of patients cope with hair loss and restore their confidence. Unusual for his field, Dr. Epstein holds board certifications in the fields of facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and is a Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (FISHRS) and of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Epstein ensures that he personally performs all his procedures for his patients, assisted by a talented full-time staff of 18 full-time assistants that include two nurse practitioners. He also complements his time at his busy practice to do research on cutting edge cell-based and fat transfer techniques, and educate the next generation of surgeons through lectures and writing and hosting fellows from AAFPRS training programs on a regular basis.

Almost unmatched in hair transplant expertise, Dr. Epstein has performed over 20,000 hair restoration procedures. His colleagues include facial plastic surgeons Anthony Bared, MD and his wife Gorana Kuka Epstein, MD who has her main office in Europe but works in Miami as head of research and as the director of the Women’s Center for Hair Loss. With their expertise in hair restoration and the FUE (Follicular Unit Excision/Extraction) technique, including in the use of body hair to scalp transplants (BHT), these surgeons work towards great outcomes for patients every day. Dr. Kuka Epstein and Dr. Epstein have worked together to develop advanced FUE techniques that have made the practice one of the leading FUE destinations in the United States. Using his experience in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Epstein can produce truly natural-looking results for hair restoration patients. He is an expert in advanced hair restoration techniques, including FUE (Follicular Unit Excision/Extraction) which minimizes scarring on the scalp, in most cases making it not visible even when the head is shaved. With his colleague Dr. Kuka Epstein, Dr. Epstein developed the E-FUE device, which uses tiny punches to minimize scarring. He also has special expertise in improving the results of prior hair transplant procedures, eyebrow and facial hair transplants, as well as in one-stage hairline lowering/forehead reduction surgery, also called the Surgical Hairline Advancement (SHA).
Dr. Epstein and his team are capable of performing large procedures involving 3000 grafts or more a single day and patients can also count on Dr. Epstein to provide the most aesthetic and natural-appearing results with care and professionalism due to his active involvement with each case personally performing himself all the aesthetic steps. Education, Training & Accolades
Medical training
Dr. Epstein first attended Swarthmore College, then did his medical training at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Later, he trained in head and neck surgery/otolaryngology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, then earned a fellowship from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Epstein did this fellowship in the San Francisco Bay area and was awarded the Jack Anderson Memorial Award for achieving the highest score in the nation on his board exams.
Dr. Epstein has been recognized for many years as one of the Top Doctors in America, and he has been continuously listed for years in Castle Connelly’s Top Doctor Guide, an unbiased rating of doctors by doctors themselves. The process involves peer nomination, screening and research, and Dr. Epstein has been awarded this honor every year since 2006 for his outstanding work and ongoing research.
Now that he has decades of experience, he often lectures and publishes scientific research to help other doctors hone their skills in subjects like hair transplant revisions, hair loss in women, hairline lowering surgery, and new techniques for hair restoration. To give back to the community, Dr. Epstein provides pro bono reconstructive surgery to children, veterans, and other people in need, and heads up the Gorana and Jeffrey Epstein Foundation. Because Dr. Epstein is a leader in the field of hair restoration, he frequently publishes and lectures on his topics of expertise and is often featured in the press and media for his clinical practice and innovation.
He is a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Miami in both the Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery and the Department of Otolaryngology, serves as Editor of the Hair Transplant Forum International (the official publication of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, composed of more than 1,200 surgeons from around the world) and a past the President of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Jeffrey Epstein has been in private practice in Miami since 1994, and New York City since 2004, and is a Voluntary Assistant Professor at the University of Miami in both the Department of Otolaryngology and the Philip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. A Past President of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Epstein publishes and lectures extensively, and is considered a foremost expert in the field of surgical hair restoration where he is the immediate past Editor of the Hair Transplant Forum International. Dr. Epstein also provides pro bono reconstructive surgery to children, war veterans, and other people of need.
